Hazy UV DTF Prints? The Problem Might Be Your Film!

di WongJim 29 May 2025 0 commenti

Q: What is the "fogging" phenomenon?

"Fog" means that there is a layer of gray on the surface of the pattern, and the color is not bright, transparent, or vivid enough.

The specific manifestations are:

White ink turns gray after being used as primer, not pure white;

The colored area seems to have a layer of matte added, and the overall color is darker;

When exposed to light, the surface of the pattern reflects unevenly, as if there is a slight layer of oil mist.

Common Cause Analysis

Fogging issue

1. The transparency of A film is insufficient or the atomization coating is uneven

This causes the overall pattern to be gray, affecting the color purity;

It affects the transmittance of the varnish layer, making it look "covered with a layer of white".

2. Poor compatibility of A film coating leads to uneven ink spreading

The ink "sticks" or "beads", forming uneven color blocks;

After printing, the UV-cured surface has a strong sense of particles and looks blurry.

3. The release force of film B is unstable, and the edge is fuzzy or partially residual after transfer

The pattern edges are not neat and slightly warped;

The pattern may be stretched and deformed during the film peeling process.

4. Misaligned Nozzle Angle or Ink Ejection Causes Image Blur

Skewed inkjet trajectory can lead to blurred edges or ghosting in the printed image;

White ink or varnish may appear fuzzy at the edges, and transparent areas may look grayish;

Common causes include printhead collisions, improper installation angle, or micro-particle clogging.

How to Judge the Quality of the Membrane?

These measured indicators:

Contrast of the pattern after printing: strong contrast between white and black, good light transmittance of the film;

The integrity of the layer after scratching: no virtual edges, no powder loss, no fogging;

UV light irradiation test: high-quality film absorbs heat evenly, does not deform, and does not emit fog;

Observe the color restoration after transfer: the quality of the film has a great influence on the terminal pattern restoration.

Film quality test Film comparison

Our membranes have the following properties:

Highly transparent PET substrate, optimized coating formula to ensure clear and transparent patterns;

Stable surface tension ensures uniform adhesion of white ink and film formation of varnish;

The glossiness is over 95%, the color is saturated and there is no gray feeling;

Compatible with mainstream UV DTF models on the market, supporting simultaneous printing of varnish, white ink and color images.
